1. General information only

All content on the Site, including our guides, explanations, commands, diagrams and recommendations, is provided in good faith and for general use. We make reasonable efforts to keep it accurate and current, and we say plainly when a method has stopped working, but we make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability or availability of any content. Any reliance you place on it is strictly at your own risk.

2. Following technical instructions carries real risk

This is the most important section on this page. Our guides describe procedures that change how a computer behaves. Depending on the guide, that may involve:

• editing the Windows registry;
• running commands with administrator rights;
• creating, resizing, formatting or deleting disk partitions;
• changing firewall, antivirus or account security settings;
• deleting files, user accounts or system restore points;
• changing update, driver or boot configuration; and
• resetting or reinstalling Windows.

These actions can result in data loss, loss of access to an account, loss of encrypted data, a reduction in the security of your machine, or a system that will not start. Some of them cannot be undone. Where a step is destructive or irreversible, our guides say so, and you should treat those warnings as the point of the guide rather than as boilerplate.

You are solely responsible for deciding whether to carry out any procedure described here, for backing up your data before you begin, and for confirming that you are authorised to make changes to the computer, account or network in question. If the machine belongs to an employer, a school or anyone else, ask the person responsible for it first.

3. Windows changes, and configurations differ

Microsoft revises Windows continually. A menu path, setting name, command or behaviour that was correct when a guide was written can change with a feature update, and features differ between Home, Pro and Enterprise editions, between Windows 7, 10 and 11, and between machines configured by a manufacturer or an employer.

Every guide carries the date it was last updated, and we revise guides when we learn that something has changed rather than leaving them to rot. We do not, however, warrant that any guide reflects the current behaviour of your particular build, edition or configuration. If what you see on screen does not match what a guide describes, stop and check rather than proceeding by analogy.

4. Not professional advice

Nothing on the Site constitutes professional advice of any kind, including professional IT, security, legal, financial or data-recovery advice. Our guides are written for people administering their own computers. They are not a substitute for a qualified professional, and they are not written for managed, domain-joined or regulated environments, where a change that is harmless at home may breach a policy or a compliance obligation.

If data matters and it is at risk, particularly on a drive that may be physically failing, stop and consult a data-recovery specialist. Continuing to run repair tools on a failing drive can make recovery less likely, and no guide on this Site can tell you which situation you are in.

5. Security and privacy topics

Some guides cover firewalls, antivirus, encryption, account passwords and file visibility. These describe how Windows features work and how to configure them. They do not make any system secure, and they are not a security audit. Turning a protection off, even briefly and for a good reason, increases risk for as long as it is off, and our guides say when that is the case.

Guides describing how to hide, encrypt or clear data are written for people managing their own machines. They are not instructions for concealing anything from someone entitled to see it, nor for accessing a machine or account that is not yours.

6. External links and downloads

The Site links to third-party websites, principally Microsoft’s documentation and support pages, which we cite as sources. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, accuracy, legality or practices of any third-party site. The inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement.

Where a guide mentions third-party software, that mention is descriptive. We do not host files, and we do not distribute software. Downloading anything from a third party is done at your own risk, and you are responsible for verifying what you are installing.

7. Commands and code

Our guides give commands in full, with the output you should expect, so that you can tell a success from a silent failure. Type them yourself or copy them deliberately, and read what a command does before running it. Commands that delete, format, or change permissions are irreversible in ordinary use. We are not liable for the consequences of a command run in the wrong directory, against the wrong drive, or on the wrong machine.

8. Advertising disclosure

The Site is supported by advertising, including ads served through Google AdSense and other advertising partners. That advertising is what keeps every guide free to read. Ads are kept visually distinct from our editorial content, and no advertiser has any influence over what our guides say or which methods we recommend.

We do not control, endorse, or take responsibility for the products, services or claims made in third-party advertisements displayed on the Site. 9. Limitation of liability

10. Errors and omissions

Although we check our work and cite our sources, the Site may contain typographical errors, inaccuracies or omissions, including in commands, settings names, menu paths and version applicability. We reserve the right to correct errors and to change or update content at any time without prior notice, and we do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted or error-free.

If you find a mistake, please tell us at contact@zepe.online. Corrections from readers are one of the main ways our guides stay accurate, and our editorial standards explain how we handle them.

11. Trademarks and affiliation

Windows, Microsoft, Outlook and other Microsoft product names are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation. All other product and company names mentioned on the Site are the trademarks of their respective owners. We use these names descriptively, to identify the software our guides are about. Zepe is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected with Microsoft Corporation.

12. Fair use notice

The Site may quote copyrighted material in a limited way for purposes such as commentary, criticism, scholarship, research and education. We believe such use constitutes fair use under 17 U.S.C. § 107.
